Tactical Urbanism and School Streets: sharing European practices in Rome

As a partner of the Streets for Citizens project, ANCI Lazio was pleased to host in Rome an inspiring exchange focused on tactical urbanism and people-centred public spaces.

In this short video (1 minute), Alexia Spyridonidou, consultant for the Municipality of Ioannina , shares her reflections on the value of the meeting and on the importance of learning from local good practices to support replication across cities.

The discussion directly supports the work underway in the Rome pilot area, within Municipio IX, where a tactical urbanism intervention is being developed near the Istituto Comprensivo Matteo Ricci (Via Cina, 4), aiming to improve safety, accessibility and quality of public space around schools.

Among the good practices visited in Rome, the #SchoolStreet di Monte Ruggero stood out as the city’s first tactical urbanism initiative: a creative, low-cost and participatory intervention showing how streets can become safer, more inclusive and more vibrant places for children and the whole community.

Watch the video and discover how European cooperation helps turn ideas into concrete actions for more liveable cities.
